The Gauteng Department of Health has announced multiple entry-level employment opportunities under its Support Directorate. A total of 10 Cleaner positions are currently open for application.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates wishing to apply for these posts must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Minimum of Grade 10, an equivalent qualification, or an ABET Level 4 qualification.
- Literacy Skills: Demonstrated ability to read and write.
- Experience: 0 to 2 years of appropriate experience as a cleaner in a health facility or medical environment is considered an added advantage.
- Core Competencies: Good verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and high productivity.
- Work Conditions: Ability to work shifts, operate effectively under pressure, and collaborate well within a team.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining health and hygiene standards across designated facility areas:
- General Cleaning: Clean windows, walls, basins, lockers, kitchens, and bathrooms.
- Floor Care: Sweep, mop, and polish all floor surfaces throughout the institution.
- Infection Control & Hygiene: Open windows daily for ventilation, perform damp and dry dusting, empty dustbins, and assess toilet cleaning checklists against hygienic standards.
- Stock & Amenities Replenishment: Replace toilet paper, paper towels, and hand soap across designated rest areas.
- Waste & Equipment Management: Remove and store waste in designated disposal sites. Clean, store, and safeguard all assigned cleaning materials and equipment.
- Maintenance & Hazard Reporting: Provide routine maintenance services, report safety hazards in the environment, and report electrical or mechanical malfunctions of cleaning machinery.
