What is the Admission Information Form (AIF)?
The University of Waterloo AIF is an online form consisting of short questions and answers to help the school committee learn and know more about their prospective students.
AIF is a required part of the application process for all programs in the Faculties of
- Engineering and Mathematics,
- Architecture,
- Computing and Financial Management,
- Conditional Admission to Pharmacy,
- Optometry, and
- Pharmacy programs.
It’s highly recommended for all other University of Waterloo programs.
How to Submit your AIF
Step 1: Sign in or create an account in quest:
Visit the University of Waterloo’s Quest login page and enter your student ID and password.
Step 2: Access the Admission Information Form:
Once you have successfully logged in, click on the “Admissions” tab and select “Admission Information Form” from the dropdown menu.
Step 3: Fill out the form:
The form will ask for your personal information, educational history, and program preferences. Answer all the questions accurately and honestly. You can save your progress and come back to the form later, but you must complete all the questions before the deadline.
Take Note:
- The AIF is not accessible on mobile devices.
- Be sure to click <submit> on each page when completing your form in Quest.
Step 4: Checking errors

What is Quest?
Quest is the University of Waterloo’s online student information system. You’ll use Quest to complete your AIF, view and manage your application status, and upload the required documents needed for the application process.
How to Create a Quest account
- Claim your Waterloo identity and create your password
Once you have applied to Waterloo, you will receive an email to claim your username and create your password… You’ll need your eight-digit Waterloo student number (ID), e.g., 21234567 found in your acknowledgment email.
- Sign into your Quest account
After claiming and creating your University of Waterloo account, you can then sign in to Waterloo Quest account.
What’s the difference between your student number and username?
- Your Student Number is the eight-digit number you will be using once you become a student at the University of Waterloo. The eight-digit numbers start with “2“.
- Your user is a combination of your first and last names, e.g., If your name is Zoey Mike, then your user ID would be zoeymike.
You’ll be able to use Quest to do the following:
- view and download your Offer of Admission,
- download a Letter of Acceptance (if you’re an international student and need that for your student visa application),
- view any scholarship and bursary information, and
- eventually select courses, view your tuition fees, and more.
