1. Works Manager – D2 | Operations Department
Salary: R1,040,219.87 per annum (Total Cost to Company)
This is a senior leadership role for a highly experienced professional. As Works Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring effluent discharge meets licence standards, and that sludge disposal complies with all legislative requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Wastewater Treatment NQF Level 5 with 12 years’ relevant experience, OR
- BSc Degree, BEng, or BTech (in an appropriate field) with 8 years’ relevant experience
2. Process Controller (X11) – C2 | Operations Department
Salary: R34,685.89 – R37,720.91 per month
Eleven posts are available. The Process Controller ensures the 24-hour operation of wastewater treatment plants or modules, achieving compliant effluent discharge and sludge disposal in line with licence conditions.
Minimum Requirements — Option 1:
- Wastewater Treatment Qualification (NQF Level 4)
- 8 years’ relevant experience, of which at least 2 years must be at Grade B4
Minimum Requirements — Option 2:
- National Diploma / National Technical Diploma / NTC VI / BSc Degree (in an appropriate field)
- 2 years’ experience at Grade B4, excluding in-service training
3. Process Operator (X34) – B4 | Operations Department
Salary: R23,482.68 per month
With 34 posts available, this is the largest recruitment drive in the current round. Process Operators are responsible for the 24-hour operation of wastewater treatment plants, modules, or sections to ensure compliant effluent discharge in accordance with ERWAT procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Operator’s Certificate / Wastewater Treatment Practice NQF Level 3 with 7 years’ experience, of which 2 years must be at Grade B2, OR
- Wastewater Treatment Practice NQF Level 4 with 3 years’ experience, of which 2 years must be at Grade B2, OR
- BSc Degree, National Diploma, or NTC VI with 1 year’s experience (excluding in-service training), OR
- Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) with 15 years’ relevant experience
4. Assistant Operator (X5) – B2 Band | Operations Department
Salary: R18,105.52 – R19,689.74 per month
Five posts are available for Assistant Operators who will help ensure 24-hour plant operation and that effluent discharge and sludge disposal are managed in accordance with ERWAT procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) with 15 years’ experience as a General Worker in the ERWAT Operations Department, OR
- Grade 8 / Operator’s Certificate or Wastewater Treatment Practice NQF Level 2 with 3 years’ relevant experience
5. Tractor Driver (X5) – B2 | Operations Department
Salary: R18,105.52 per month
Five Tractor Driver positions are open. This role supports wastewater treatment plant operations through the safe operation of tractors and related implements for waste and sludge disposal, grass and weed control, and on-site equipment movement.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 10
- Tractor and trailer operation experience
- Mechanical knowledge to conduct vehicle and tractor inspections
6. Beverage and Office Attendant | Maintenance Services Department
Salary: R12,257.60 per month
This entry-level role involves providing professional and hygienic beverage and refreshment services to employees and visitors, maintaining cleanliness in kitchen and break-room areas, preparing meeting rooms, and monitoring stock levels.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 10 or equivalent
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of hygiene and cleaning procedures
