Role Purpose & Key Performance Areas

The primary mandate of the Consultant: Sales is to grow the Absa customer base through active client acquisition and by increasing the profitability of the branch’s identified portfolio. This role requires a proactive professional who excels at attracting new clients, cross-selling retail banking products, and driving customer retention.
Your daily responsibilities will revolve around four core pillars:

  • Financial Goals: Meet and exceed branch sales targets by converting walk-in traffic, handling outbound warm leads, and expanding market share in the Swellendam region.
  • Business Risk Management: Ensure all transactional activities, account openings, and credit applications adhere strictly to banking risk profiles, KYC protocols, and internal compliance frameworks.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Build long-term loyalty by delivering exceptional client service, handling relationship portfolios proactively, and offering tailored financial advice.
  • Colleague Support: Work collaboratively within the local branch team, contributing to a high-performance culture to achieve collective revenue goals.

Key Success Metric: This position heavily penalizes order-taking and rewards proactive cross-selling. Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to analyze a client’s financial portfolio and introduce relevant transactional accounts, credit facilities, or assurance products.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: A completed Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification (such as a standard Matric certificate).
  • FAIS Compliance: Candidates must meet the “Fit and Proper” requirements under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act. This includes holding the necessary regulatory credits or an RE5 certificate to legally provide financial advice and intermediary services.
