Job Description
This leading South African publisher and agent for British and American books has an opening in the Christian Sales Division for a Sales Representative.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written & verbal
- Ability to foster good relations with bookshops and colleagues
- Strong interpersonal, organisational and admin skills
- Presentation and selling skills
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Detail orientated, with creative and critical thinking skills
- Adept in problem solving and multitasking
- Must be enthusiastic, motivated, pro-active and able to work independently
- Sales experience and negotiation skills
- A knowledge of and broad interest in commercial and literary publishing
- Experience in book retail would be an advantage
- A matric certificate
- A relevant qualification is preferred
- A passion for Christian literature and lifestyle
- Experience in Christian ministry and faith philosophy is essential
- A valid code 08 driver’s licence and be available for travel
- Computer literacy is necessary, especially Microsoft Excel
Duties would include:
- Selling and promoting a defined range of books every month
- Achieving sales targets
- Growing Christian database
- Maintaining good relations with all customers
- Ensuring that our Christian books in particular are appropriately stocked and well displayed in retail outlets, including backlist
- Attending some after-hours book launches, festivals and events.
- Continual building of specific product knowledge
- Compiling monthly sales reports
- Representing the company in a positive way to customers
